Tina Azarvand, Esq., LL.M.

Managing Partner

Background and History

Tina Azarvand, founder of Azarvand Tax Law, is a nationally recognized tax attorney committed to transforming tax law services through client-focused representation and transparent pricing. She represents businesses and individuals navigating complex federal and state tax matters, including those with international tax obligations.

Since 2023, Tina has earned recognition each year on the Super Lawyers: Rising Stars list, an honor bestowed upon only 2.5% of attorneys in each state. She has also been recognized on the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch list since 2023. Her dedication to community service was honored with the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service (MVLS) Young Volunteer of the Year Award in 2022.

In 2025, CNMI Governor David M. Apatang appointed Tina to the Commonwealth Economic Incentive Authority Board of Directors, a role she currently serves in representing the private sector. The CEIA works to promote the CNMI’s free trade zones internationally and advance economic development and diversification in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Tina serves as Salon Today’s Resident Tax Attorney. Through her regular articles, she provides accessible guidance on critical tax issues affecting beauty business owners.

Tina is licensed to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia, and is licensed to practice before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), allowing her to represent taxpayers worldwide before the IRS regardless of their location. She holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) and a Master of Laws in Taxation (LL.M.) from the University of Baltimore School of Law.

Driven by a genuine commitment to making sophisticated tax representation accessible, Tina founded Azarvand Tax Law with a strong emphasis on transparent pricing, clear communication, and building lasting client relationships based on trust and results.

Before establishing her own firm, she worked as a Tax Attorney at a tax law firm and a Tax Manager at an accounting firm, where she assisted businesses and individuals with a variety of IRS and local tax matters.

During law school, Tina spearheaded the formation of Maryland’s first Student Tax Committee in her role as her law school representative on the Maryland Higher Education Commission’s Student Advisory Council, where she focused on researching and addressing tax issues affecting Maryland students. She also served as the American Bar Association (ABA) Representative and worked closely with the Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA) as its Student Ambassador and Student Representative within her law school’s Student Bar Association.

During law school, Tina gained extensive practical tax experience through multiple clinical and professional roles. She served as a Law Clerk and Student Attorney at the University of Baltimore Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic, worked as a Law Clerk at a tax law firm, interned at the MVLS Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic, and provided tax preparation services to low-income taxpayers as a VITA-certified IRS preparer.
